Dubai: Dubai’s Taxi and Limousine sectors recorded strong growth in 2025, with significant increases in ridership, digital bookings, and fleet expansion, according to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The taxi sector served 209 million passengers in 2025, up from 200.65 million in 2024, marking a 4.2% increase in ridership. Taxi trips also rose by 4.2%, reaching 120.1 million trips, compared to 115.3 million trips the previous year.

According to Adel Shakeri, Director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, the growth reflects Dubai’s continued focus on technology-driven and customer-focused mobility solutions.

Digital Booking Growth

E-hail services, which allow passengers to book taxis through mobile apps, continued to grow rapidly. About 45% of all taxi trips were booked through E-hail platforms, representing a 13% increase compared to 2024. The shift highlights Dubai’s strategy to move from traditional street hailing to digital ride-booking systems.

Fleet Expansion and Sustainability

In 2025, the taxi fleet expanded with the addition of 600 new vehicles, bringing the total fleet to 14,476 taxis, a 6% increase compared to 2024.

RTA also reported that 90% of the operational fleet now consists of hybrid or electric vehicles, supporting the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. The authority aims to make 100% of taxis electric by 2040.

Improved Service Quality

Passenger comfort and service quality were also enhanced with several upgrades, including leather seating, in-car fresheners, and digital roof lights.

Advanced AI technologies are now used for lost-and-found services and driver safety monitoring. In addition, more than 75% of taxi trips achieved an estimated arrival time (ETA) of under 3.5 minutes, highlighting the efficiency of Dubai’s transport system.

E-hail Limousine Sector Growth

The E-hail limousine sector also saw rapid expansion, with trips increasing 25%, from 32.8 million in 2024 to 41 million in 2025.

Ridership rose to 71.4 million passengers, supported by the addition of 35 new limousine companies and approximately 2,500 vehicles. Currently, around 15,000 vehicles operate on the E-hail limousine platform, with 83% of trips achieving an ETA of under 3.5 minutes.

The limousine sector is also moving toward sustainability, with 18% of its fleet already electric, and operators planning to integrate more eco-friendly vehicles in the coming years.
