Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan attended the “Proud of the UAE” celebration organised by the Indian Islamic Centre in Abu Dhabi, highlighting the deep-rooted friendship between the United Arab Emirates and India and reaffirming the values of tolerance, coexistence, and national belonging.

The event was attended by several prominent officials, including Dr. Jamal Sanad Al Suwaidi, Shamis Ali Khalfan Al Dhaheri, Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ali Al Hashemi, Abdullah Butti Al Qubaisi, and Dr. Yusuff Ali, alongside community leaders and members of the Indian community.

In his address, Sheikh Nahyan said the celebration reflects the strong sense of belonging shared by everyone living in the UAE and highlights the enduring friendship between the UAE and India, built on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

He praised the leadership of Dr. Yusuff Ali, describing him as a bridge between cultures and communities whose contributions have strengthened relations between the two nations.

Sheikh Nahyan also commended the role of the Indian Islamic Centre in promoting dialogue, mutual understanding, and social harmony, noting that faith, culture, and community engagement play a vital role in building cohesive societies.

Speaking on the theme “Proud of the UAE,” he said that pride in the country is shared not only by citizens but also by residents who live, work, and contribute to the nation’s progress and prosperity.

He highlighted the UAE’s success in bringing together more than 200 nationalities in an environment of security, stability, and mutual respect, describing this diversity as one of the country’s greatest achievements.

Sheikh Nahyan attributed this success to the vision and leadership of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whose commitment to peace, development, and human values continues to guide the nation’s progress.

He also referred to the national “Ahd wa Waad” (Pledge & Commitment) campaign, noting the strong participation of both citizens and residents, including members of the Indian community, as a reflection of loyalty, gratitude, and a shared commitment to the UAE’s future.

The minister further highlighted the significance of the UAE’s Year of the Family 2026, emphasising that strong families are the foundation of strong communities and prosperous nations.

For his part, Dr. Deepak Mittal praised the UAE as a global model of development, tolerance, and prosperity, while highlighting the growing strategic partnership between the UAE and India across multiple sectors.

The celebration featured Emirati and Indian cultural performances, as well as a documentary showcasing the UAE’s achievements in promoting coexistence, tolerance, and cultural diversity, alongside the contributions of the Indian community to the nation’s development.

The event concluded with a reaffirmation of the deep cultural and human ties between the UAE and India and a shared commitment to strengthening friendship, cooperation, and dialogue between the two countries.
