Following a major merger with Quality Care India, Aster targets massive healthcare expansion, adding 1,315 beds and 7,900 new jobs across the state.

DUBAI: In a major boost to Kerala’s healthcare ecosystem, Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, met with Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan in Dubai. During the high-level meeting, Dr. Moopen commended the Chief Minister for presenting a progressive, development-oriented budget focused on healthcare, education, job creation, infrastructure, and social welfare, while reaffirming Aster’s long-term commitment to the state’s growth.

The discussions centered on strengthening healthcare infrastructure, medical education, skill development, healthcare technology, medical tourism, and charitable initiatives across Kerala. Highlighting the state’s pivotal role in the group’s global operations, Dr. Moopen noted that Kerala remains one of Aster’s most strategic markets, largely due to its highly skilled doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who are respected worldwide.

“We are fully committed to partnering with the state government in its mission to transform Kerala into one of India’s premier healthcare hubs,” Dr. Azad Moopen stated following the meeting.

This commitment is backed by a monumental expansion plan. Following the recent merger between Aster and Quality Care India, the combined network will operate 11 hospitals in Kerala boasting a total capacity of 4,575 beds. This consolidated network is poised to become one of the most formidable healthcare forces in India, offering advanced tertiary and quaternary care services.

To fuel this expansion, the joint entity has earmarked an additional investment of ₹1,661 crore to add 1,315 beds in Kerala over the coming years. The group, which currently employs over 18,400 healthcare professionals in the state, expects to create approximately 7,900 additional jobs, significantly boosting Kerala’s healthcare capacity and economic growth.

As part of this roadmap, Aster alone plans to add 834 beds across the state. This includes the highly anticipated 454-bed Aster Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, which is nearing completion and is set to drastically enhance advanced medical facilities in Southern Kerala.

Philanthropy and Community Care Initiatives

Beyond infrastructure, Dr. Moopen reiterated Aster’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. He recalled the active role played by ‘Aster Volunteers’ in the relief and rehabilitation efforts following the devastating Chooralmala-Mundakkai landslides in Wayanad. Dr. Azad Moopen extended his gratitude to Agricultural Development and Community Development Minister Siddique for his unwavering support during the rehabilitation drives.

Furthermore, Dr. Moopen outlined Aster’s historic ₹120-crore Cancer Care CSR program, which aims to establish state-of-the-art cancer treatment facilities across India over the next three years. The flagship project under this initiative will be the installation of an advanced Linear Accelerator (LINAC) in Wayanad, eliminating geographical and financial barriers for thousands of underprivileged cancer patients requiring radiation therapy.

Dr. Azad Moopen concluded by thanking the Chief Minister for his steadfast focus on empowering Kerala’s healthcare and social development sectors, reiterating Aster’s absolute alignment with the state’s progressive vision.
