Dubbed ‘Suqya Rahma’, the initiative aims to combat severe water scarcity by constructing open and borewells across the constituency.

DUBAI: In a major humanitarian intervention to address the acute water scarcity plaguing the northernmost region of Kerala, the Dubai KMCC Manjeshwaram Constituency Committee has announced an extensive clean drinking water project spanning eight panchayats. Titled ‘Suqya Rahma’, the initiative was officially unveiled during a high-profile leadership meet held in Dubai, drawing key organizational figures from state, district, and constituency levels.

Under the initial phase of the ‘Suqya Rahma’ project, the committee will fund and oversee the construction of high-yield open wells and borewells across all eight panchayats in the Manjeshwaram constituency. Strategically located to maximize accessibility, each water source is designed to cater to multiple households simultaneously, providing long-term relief to families struggling with seasonal water stress.

The official declaration was made during a convention presided over by Manjeshwaram Constituency President Ibrahim Berika. Adv. Ibrahim Khaleel, the State Secretary of Dubai KMCC, inaugurated the session and lauded the expatriate community’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development back home.

The event commenced with a welcome address by General Secretary Saifuddin Mogral. Prominent leaders shared insights during the session, including District Acting General Secretary Subair Kubanoor, and District Executives Ashraf Bayar and Asif Hosangadi. State Working Committee Member Muneer Berika also addressed the gathering alongside Constituency Vice Presidents Yusuf Sheni, Jabbar Baidala, Siddique Classic, and Salam Patlatka. Other key organizational secretaries in attendance included Aman Thalekala, Mustafa Panangai, Raziq Machampady, and Khalid Mallangkai. Mansoor Marthya, the Committee Treasurer, delivered the vote of thanks.

The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), the expatriate wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), is renowned for its widespread philanthropic networks across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The Manjeshwaram constituency in Kasaragod district historically faces severe groundwater depletion during peak summer months, making grassroots, NRI-funded infrastructure initiatives like ‘Suqya Rahma’ vital lifelines for local communities.
