Lulu partners with UAE’s Naseej Initiative to promote textile circularity

Partnership supports the UAE’s circular economy and Net Zero goals, with Lulu set to introduce textile recycling collection points across selected stores.

Abu Dhabi: Reinforcing its commitment to the UAE’s sustainability vision, Lulu has joined Naseej – the National Initiative for Textile Circularity through a strategic MoU to support the country’s transition towards a circular economy that reduces textile waste, promotes reuse and recycling, and preserves valuable resources.

The MoU was signed by Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu, in the presence of Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, and senior dignitaries at the Emirates Foundation headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

“We are proud to partner with Naseej, a national initiative that reflects the UAE’s visionary approach to sustainability and the circular economy. As one of the region’s leading retailers, we have a responsibility to make sustainable choices easier for our customers. Together with Naseej, we will support advance textile collection, reuse and recycling while encouraging greater public participation in support of the UAE’s Net Zero vision.” said Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu.

As part of the partnership, Lulu will introduce dedicated textile recycling collection points across selected stores, enabling customers to donate unwanted clothing and household textiles for reuse and recycling.

Established under the directives of the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Naseej is driving the nation’s transition toward a circular textile economy. This initiative brings together more than 35 organisations to build a more sustainable textile value chain.

Lulu is among 14 organisations that signed strategic MoUs under the latest phase of the initiative. Other partners include ADNOC Distribution, Aldar, PureHealth, M42, Landmark Group, Deliveroo, Talabat, Re-Up, Rebound, Miniwiz, Fabricaid, Thrift for Good and Kiswa.
