National Centre of Meteorology issues advisory for convective cloud formations, rising humidity, and blowing dust across the Emirates

ABU DHABI, July 14, 2026 — Inland temperatures across the United Arab Emirates are forecast to climb to 48°C today, accompanied by high overnight humidity and a chance of localized convective rainfall in the eastern and southern regions, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) announced.

The NCM stated that fair to partly cloudy skies will prevail across most parts of the country. However, convective cloud formations are highly probable over eastern areas later in the afternoon, potentially causing isolated showers.

Maximum temperatures inland will range between 43°C and 48°C. Meanwhile, coastal areas and islands will experience highs of 38°C to 42°C, while mountain peaks will offer cooler conditions, ranging between 32°C and 37°C.

Relative humidity is projected to rise significantly overnight and into Wednesday morning, particularly across western coastal regions. Light to moderate southwesterly to northwesterly winds, averaging speeds up to 35 km/h, will freshen at times across exposed areas.

Sea conditions in the Arabian Gulf are expected to remain slight. In contrast, the Oman Sea will experience slight to moderate conditions, which may deteriorate to rough offshore by Wednesday morning.

The state weather bureau warned that the intense heat wave will persist through the rest of the week, with temperatures expected to rise further on Wednesday.

Convective clouds are forecast to expand over both eastern and southern territories on Wednesday and Thursday. These formations are likely to bring localized rainfall, while shifting southeasterly to northeasterly winds could accelerate to 40 km/h, triggering blowing dust and reducing horizontal visibility.

By Friday and Saturday, the NCM expects the fair to partly cloudy pattern to continue with localized afternoon cloud build-up, though no major shift in overall temperatures is expected. Winds will decelerate slightly to maximum speeds of 35 km/h, while overnight humidity will return by Saturday evening, introducing a risk of early morning mist on Sunday.
