Interior Ministry confirms security forces and civil defence units deployed following early morning Iranian aerial strikes targeting the country.

DOHA — 17 July 2026: A child was injured by falling debris on Friday morning after Qatari air defence systems engaged and intercepted targets during an aerial attack launched by Iran against the Gulf state, the Ministry of Interior announced.

The ministry stated that the injured child was immediately transported to a medical facility and is currently receiving necessary healthcare. Official details regarding the child’s identity, age, or the severity of the injuries have not been disclosed by the authorities.

Air raid sirens and loud explosions were reported across parts of the capital early Friday as interception operations began. Following the strikes, Qatar’s security authorities and Civil Defence teams immediately deployed across affected sectors, executing pre-approved emergency response and containment plans.

The Qatari Ministry of Interior released its statement via the state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA), confirming that emergency crews are actively managing the aftermath of the falling shrapnel. Debris from intercepted projectiles has been reported in several residential zones, prompting authorities to urge the public to remain indoors while clearance operations continue.

Regional tensions have escalated sharply over the last 24 hours, culminating in Friday morning’s direct aerial targeting of Qatari infrastructure. The government has not yet provided a full assessment of the material damage caused by the intercepted targets or the specific nature of the projectiles used in the assault.

Cabinet officials are currently holding emergency briefings in Doha to assess the geopolitical implications of the strike and coordinate further defensive measures. The Ministry of Interior assured the public that the situation remains under control and that all critical emergency protocols are actively operational.
