NCM warns of convective cloud activity across eastern UAE; lower temperatures and humid conditions expected with chances of fog

SHARJAH, UAE – July 25, 2026:Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder, lightning, and flowing wadis swept across Al Dhaid and Suhaila in Sharjah on Saturday afternoon. The sudden downpours followed a weather advisory issued by the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology (NCM), which warned of convective cloud formations over parts of the country’s eastern region.

Videos circulated by local weather monitors showed torrential rain lash the eastern areas, triggering surface runoff and active wadi flows near Al Dhaid and Suhaila. The NCM had forecast the development of convective clouds bringing light-to-moderate rain, with localized heavy showers.

Temperature Drop and Humidity Warning

While heavy downpours lashed eastern parts of the emirate, weather across the rest of the country remained generally fair, with temperatures easing slightly.

The NCM warned of high humidity levels overnight into Sunday morning, creating conditions favorable for fog or mist formation across coastal and inland areas. Weather forecasters expect temperatures to decline further through Sunday, with cloud cover redeveloping over eastern and southern regions from Monday through Wednesday. These developments may bring additional afternoon rainfall, fresh winds reaching up to 40 km/h, blowing dust in exposed regions, and occasionally rough sea conditions in parts of the Arabian Gulf.
