Dubai has confirmed full readiness for New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations, with nearly 10,000 police officers and thousands of emergency, transport, and municipal staff deployed across the emirate to manage crowds, traffic, and safety during one of the world’s largest year-end events.

Dubai’s Event Security Committee (ESC) announced that 48 fireworks displays will take place at 40 locations, including iconic landmarks such as Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Atlantis The Royal, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Frame, Al Marmoom Oasis, and Hatta.

Speaking at a press conference at Dubai Civil Defence headquarters, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Operations and ESC Chairman, said 55 government, semi-government, and private entities are working together under a unified security and operations plan.

Dubai has been divided into four operational sectors — North, Central, West, and Marine — to ensure seamless coordination. Support services include 37 assistance tents providing first aid, police support, visitor guidance, and help for lost children.

Police, Civil Defence and Medical Preparedness

Dubai Police will deploy 9,884 officers, supported by 1,625 patrol vehicles, 53 marine boats, mounted units, and bicycle patrols. Dubai Civil Defence has mobilised 1,754 firefighters, while more than 300 facilities have been inspected for safety compliance.

Dubai Ambulance Services will operate 236 emergency points, supported by air ambulance units, while 1,900 medical staff, six hospitals, four clinics, and a field hospital near Burj Khalifa have been placed on standby.

Traffic, Transport and Public Services

Road closures in Downtown Dubai will begin from 4pm, expanding gradually until 11pm, affecting major routes including Sheikh Zayed Road. Public transport capacity has been boosted with 14,000 taxis, 18,000 limousines, 1,300 buses, and 43 continuous hours of Metro and Tram services.

Dubai Municipality has deployed 2,600 staff for sanitation, food safety inspections, park management, and beach safety, with 14 parks remaining open until 1am. Fireworks and drone shows will be staged at Dubai Frame for the first time.

Community and Media Coverage

More than 1,800 community volunteers from over 30 nationalities will assist authorities across eight locations. Dubai Media Inc will broadcast the celebrations globally, showcasing the emirate’s achievements and cultural programmes.

Officials reiterated Dubai’s commitment to delivering a safe, organised, and memorable New Year’s Eve celebration.
