Central Finance Department reports over 550 transactions via the national card network in the first half of 2026.

SHARJAH, Aug 24, 2026 : The Sharjah Central Finance Department has expanded payment channels for government services by fully integrating the UAE’s national payment card, Jaywan, into the emirate’s Tahseel financial system.

Under the expansion, citizens and residents can process government service payments using Jaywan cards via the official Tahseel portal, mobile application, and physical service centers located across the emirate.

The move forms part of Sharjah’s broader initiative to diversify public transaction channels and modernize digital infrastructure across public entities. By adopting locally developed financial technology, the department aims to reduce reliance on external processing networks while offering secure transaction channels.

Initial adoption metrics show growing reliance on the national platform. The Central Finance Department recorded 558 transactions processed through Jaywan on the Tahseel network during the first half of 2026. The platform’s initial transaction using Jaywan took place on Sept 20, 2025.

“Making Jaywan available across the system’s various channels is not merely the addition of a new payment option, but a step that strengthens the diversity of national solutions,” said Huda Al Yasi, Director of the Financial System Department at the Sharjah Central Finance Department. Al Yasi added that the department plans to introduce further technical updates to the Tahseel system to align collection methods with modern digital banking standards.

The integration supports the United Arab Emirates’ national digital economy targets, which focus on deploying domestic payment networks for government revenue collection across municipal, financial, and administrative sectors.
