Polina secures the women’s overall sprint title alongside age-group victories, while the men’s squad clinches silver in the Olympic distance relay
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates : Athletes representing the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai delivered a commanding performance at the Dubai Police Triathlon, sweeping key individual categories in the women’s sprint division and securing a podium finish in the men’s Olympic distance team relay.
Polina spearheaded the department’s campaign in the women’s sprint category, clinching first place in the 18–29 age bracket before claiming the overall women’s individual title.
Her teammates extended the department’s momentum across other age brackets. Ayrn secured the top spot in the 30–34 division, while Rachel took first place in the 35–39 category, completing a clean sweep across three separate age brackets in the sprint contest.
In the men’s Olympic distance relay, the trio of Amer Al Bahri, Kirill Merl, and Khalifa Al Nuaimi took second place after a closely fought three-discipline contest. The Olympic distance requires competitors to complete an extended course comprising swimming, cycling, and running legs, demanding precise pacing and seamless handoffs between disciplines.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, commended the squad for their discipline, athletic commitment, and sportsmanship throughout the championship. The department routinely fields competitive teams across local and regional government sports tournaments to foster physical fitness and institutional teamwork.
Triathlon competitions test endurance through consecutive swimming, transition cycling, and running stages. The sprint category features shorter, high-intensity routes, while the Olympic distance tests endurance over standard international event distances. In relay formats, team members divide the three distinct legs, making collective race strategy and baton transitions critical to the podium result.
