Two cargo planes deliver 128 tonnes of food, emergency shelters, and generators as Dubai Police and military personnel join search efforts

ABU DHABI — September 4, 2026 : The United Arab Emirates has dispatched an emergency search-and-rescue contingent to Nepal alongside a $10 million humanitarian funding package, responding to deadly seasonal floods and landslides that have washed away settlements and displaced thousands.

The emergency mobilization follows direct instructions from UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. An initial humanitarian airbridge has delivered 128 tonnes of life-saving relief via two cargo flights into Kathmandu. The first shipment transported 83 tonnes of food parcels and weather-resistant shelter kits, followed by a second transport carrying 45 tonnes of essential sustenance and diesel power generators to restore light and water systems in cut-off districts.

On the ground, field operations are being spearheaded by a joint rapid-deployment force comprising personnel from the UAE Joint Operations Command, specialized search-and-rescue teams from Dubai Police, and staff from the newly established UAE Aid Agency. The team integrates specialists in urban search-and-rescue, technical disaster logistics, and field medical triage, working in direct coordination with Nepal’s armed forces and civilian disaster management teams.

The $10 million aid allocation will fund both immediate rescue interventions and early recovery works across the hardest-hit river valleys. Humanitarian agencies are prioritizing the rehabilitation of local water infrastructure, clearing blocked access routes, and providing emergency medical care to prevent waterborne diseases.

Operational coordination is being managed on the ground through the UAE Embassy in Kathmandu, which is liaising with Nepalese ministries and international disaster response mechanisms to distribute supplies to isolated villages.

Officials confirmed that Nepal is one of 16 countries across four continents to receive UAE emergency humanitarian aid this year, reflecting the country’s ongoing policy of rapid international disaster intervention.
