The leaders explored joint economic priorities, advanced technology, and regional security initiatives across the Middle East

ABU DHABI : UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held discussions by phone on Friday to review bilateral economic partnerships, focusing on strategic investments in artificial intelligence and advanced technology alongside efforts to maintain Middle East stability.

The two leaders assessed existing avenues of cooperation and agreed to expand trade and commercial engagement into emerging sectors aligned with their national economic agendas.

According to an official readout carried by the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the discussion centred on building long-term, sustainable economic partnerships. High-growth sectors—most notably artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and advanced technology—formed the core of the economic portfolio discussed during the call.

Both Sheikh Mohamed and Prime Minister Carney highlighted the need to foster investment channels that create tangible cross-border opportunities for businesses and institutional investors in both countries.

Regional and global political developments also featured prominently. The leaders exchanged assessments on current situations across the Middle East, underscoring ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at containing regional friction and safeguarding civilian populations. They reiterated mutual support for constructive dialogue, regional security, and sustainable peace frameworks capable of protecting broader developmental goals.

The call reflects continuing high-level diplomatic outreach between Abu Dhabi and Ottawa, following years of expanding trade, aviation ties, and sovereign wealth fund investments across North America and the Gulf.
