DUBAI: Moving forward with its strategy to strengthen domestic maritime connectivity, DP World’s Marine Services business, Shipping Solutions, has added a new 2,500+ TEU container vessel named ‘DP World Indus’ to its fleet. The vessel will be dedicated exclusively to supporting domestic coastal trade across India.
The deployment of DP World Indus expands DP World’s coastal network in India, which currently spans 14 key ports with a dedicated fleet of 10 vessels. In 2025 alone, the company’s coastal shipping operations successfully handled more than 473,000 TEUs.
By boosting coastal shipping infrastructure, the new vessel offers businesses a highly dependable alternative to long-haul land transport. This structural shift is expected to ease traffic congestion on major road networks while lowering carbon footprints to build more resilient, environmentally responsible supply chains.
Marking a major milestone in integrating DP World’s port operations with its marine services, the vessel recently made its maiden call at the Jeddah South Container Terminal.
Commenting on the expansion, Ganesh Raj, Global Chief Operating Officer of Marine Services at DP World, said:

We documented this opportunity gap in our 2025 report, and the acquisition of the India-flagged DP World Indus reflects our commitment to strengthening domestic maritime connectivity.”
The acquisition aligns with DP World’s long-term strategy to heavily invest in India’s logistics ecosystem, including ports, maritime infrastructure, and integrated supply chain solutions.
