March 2026 is shaping up to be a significant month for residents of Dubai, with several changes set to influence commuting, banking, public holidays, and even how you book a taxi.

In a fast-moving city like Dubai, staying updated is essential — and this March brings everything from flying taxi milestones to Ramadan-related adjustments.

Here are seven major updates you need to know.

1. Flying Taxis Take a Big Step Forward

Dubai’s futuristic transport vision moves closer to reality as the first vertiport for flying taxis launches on March 31, 2026.

The Dubai International Vertiport (DXV), located at Dubai International Airport, will be the first of four vertiports planned across the city. These hubs will allow electric flying taxis to take off and land vertically, easing traffic congestion and redefining urban mobility.

2. OTPs from Banks to Be Fully Phased Out

Banks across the UAE will complete the removal of SMS and email one-time passwords (OTPs) by March 2026, following directives from the Central Bank of the UAE.

Customers will instead authenticate major transactions through secure banking apps, enhancing digital security for online payments and purchases.

3. New Bridge to Ease Trade Centre Traffic

A new bridge connecting Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street is set to open as part of the Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project.

The project aims to reduce congestion around the busy Dubai World Trade Centre, improving traffic flow in one of the city’s most active districts.

4. Eid Al Fitr Public Holiday Confirmed

As Ramadan concludes — currently predicted to end on March 18 — residents can look forward to a four-day Eid Al Fitr weekend.

Public sector employees will be off from March 19 to 22, while private sector workers will receive three official days plus the regular Sunday weekend.

5. Salik Toll Timings to Return to Normal

During Ramadan, Salik adjusts its dynamic toll timings to accommodate Iftar and Suhoor hours. Once the holy month concludes, toll timings will revert to their regular schedule across Dubai’s roads.

6. Winter Officially Ends

Dubai’s final winter phase, known as “Scorpion Season,” will conclude on March 20. With rising temperatures, residents can expect the gradual arrival of warmer spring weather.

7. Driverless Taxis Launch in Jumeirah

Residents in Jumeirah will soon be able to book autonomous taxis through the Uber app by selecting the “Autonomous” option.

The Apollo Go robotaxis, developed by Baidu, will initially operate in select areas before expanding citywide.

From futuristic transport to public holidays, March 2026 promises to be a transformative month for Dubai residents.
