Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled key details of the upcoming Dubai Metro Blue Line, including its route map and station distribution. The new line will feature five elevated stations, four underground stations, four future elevated stations, and one underground interchange station, marking a major expansion of the city’s public transport network.

Spanning a total length of 30 kilometres, the Blue Line will include 14.5km of elevated track and 15.5km underground. Once operational, it is expected to serve more than 350,000 passengers daily. The line will play a crucial role in linking the Red Line and Green Line, strengthening connectivity across several growing residential and commercial districts.

The first route, consisting of 10 stations, will begin at the Green Line’s Creek Station. It will pass through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, and Ras Al Khor, before reaching International City 1, which will feature an underground interchange station. From there, the route will extend to International City 2 and 3, continue through Dubai Silicon Oasis, and terminate at Academic City.

A second route with four stations will start from the Red Line’s Centrepoint Station, pass through Mirdif and Al Warqa, and conclude at the International City 1 Interchange Station.

RTA also revealed design details of the stations. The elevated stations draw inspiration from the shape of a seashell, while station interiors are based on seven thematic concepts, including Heritage, Earth, Air, Fire, and Water.

The first station, named Emaar Properties Station, has been designed by the renowned architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), known for designing the Burj Khalifa. Standing 74 metres tall with three levels, it will become the world’s highest metro station. The design features soaring walls, a signature metro arch, and glass panels that allow natural sunlight to illuminate the platforms.
