The fifth edition organized by the Dubai Press Club zeroes in on financial viability, modern distribution models, and global reach for regional podcasters.

DUBAI, Sept 14 (Reuters/Newsroom) : Prominent Arab podcasters, regional broadcast executives, and digital platform directors will assemble in Dubai for the fifth annual Dubai PodFest, an industry forum dedicated to mapping commercial sustainability and production shifts in the Arab world’s audio market.

Organized by the Dubai Press Club as a central pillar of the Arab Media Summit 2026, the fifth edition will address the practicalities of turning creative audio projects into durable media businesses. The sessions are tailored to assess how independent regional producers can monetize work, navigate changing digital streaming algorithms, and adapt to production equipment upgrades across the Middle East and North Africa.

Delegates will assess audience engagement trends, emerging distribution partnerships, and the influence of tech tools that streamline studio workflows. While consumer demand for Arabic-language narrative, news, and conversational audio programming has surged across streaming networks, independent creators frequently struggle with recurring monetization, structured ad revenue splits, and sustainable production funding.

Wedad Kahoor, a member of the organizing committee of the Arab Media Summit 2026, emphasized the sector’s operational shift. Podcasting across the region has matured rapidly in production complexity and listener distribution, she noted, leaving creators to tackle long-term viability.

“Podcasting has witnessed significant developments in terms of the nature of content, production tools, and ways of reaching audiences,” Kahoor said. “The challenge today is how to translate this growth into a more sustainable and impactful industry.”

She underscored that regional producers possess the cultural narratives necessary to build broader followings outside domestic boundaries. The summit framework, she added, aims to give these creators direct access to institutional networks, technical facilities, and distribution platforms based in Dubai.

“The Arab world has a wealth of talent, ideas and stories, all the ingredients required to produce outstanding content that reflects our culture and identity while reaching global audiences,” Kahoor said. “Dubai PodFest highlights our renewed commitment to discovering new perspectives and trends shaping the future of audio content.”

The event forms part of a broader industry gathering. The Arab Media Summit 2026 program includes more than 400 regional and international speakers across 175 dialogue sessions. The parent summit is scheduled to convene over 200 political figures, media editors-in-chief, technology specialists, and academics from outside the United Arab Emirates to review policy, digital transformation, and content economies across various media formats.
