DUBAI, UAE :The Dubai Police Anti-Fraud Centre has issued an urgent public warning concerning a sharp rise in deceptive online advertisements and fraudulent messaging campaigns targeting job seekers and residency applicants. Scammers are increasingly leveraging social media networks and encrypted messaging applications to offer fictitious employment opportunities, residency permits, and visit visas in exchange for direct financial payments.
According to cybercrime investigators, these fraudulent networks frequently masquerade as official government entities or operate under the names of unlicensed, fictitious businesses to build unearned trust and steal funds from unsuspecting victims.
Official Channels as First Line of Defense
The advisory forms a core component of the authority’s extensive “Be Aware of Fraud” initiative. Authorities have reiterated that the first line of defense against cross-border digital fraud is absolute vigilance and structural verification.
Dubai Police strongly advise residents and international applicants to process all entry permits and employment contracts exclusively through authorized government portals or legally registered corporate entities. The public is explicitly warned against engaging with unregulated middlemen, freelance recruitment agents, or unverified digital channels.
