Dubai, April 5, 2026: In a major push towards sustainable mobility, Dubai Municipality has announced an ambitious plan to install electric vehicle (EV) supercharging stations across 600 parking locations throughout the emirate. The initiative will see charging infrastructure set up in public parks, beaches, and various recreational facilities.

The project, valued at approximately AED 150 million, aims to enhance convenience for EV users by allowing them to charge their vehicles while spending time at outdoor leisure destinations. Locations will include public parks, waterfront areas, sports and fitness zones, and swimming and entertainment facilities, ensuring wider accessibility to charging points.

As part of the first phase, authorities plan to install 75 EV charging stations within the next two years. The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with UAEV Charging Stations Company (UAEV), highlighting a strong public-private partnership in advancing sustainable infrastructure.

Officials stated that the project aligns with Dubai’s long-term environmental goals, particularly the 2040 Greening and Parks Strategy, which focuses on expanding eco-friendly infrastructure in public spaces. By increasing the availability of EV charging facilities, the municipality aims to improve user satisfaction and encourage residents and visitors to adopt environmentally friendly transportation options.

Engineer Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Chairman of UAEV, emphasized that the initiative will ensure accessible and convenient EV charging solutions across the emirate. He also noted that the collaboration reflects the growing role of private sector participation in building future-ready infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, stated that the project is part of broader efforts to develop integrated and secure infrastructure for a sustainable future. He added that expanding EV charging access in everyday public spaces would encourage more people to choose greener mobility options.

The initiative is also expected to support the UAE’s national vision of transforming into a global hub for electric vehicles. It aligns with the country’s ambition to make 50% of all vehicles electric by 2050, contributing significantly to reducing carbon emissions and accelerating clean energy transition.

Dubai Municipality reaffirmed that future infrastructure projects will continue to focus on innovation, sustainability, operational efficiency, and environmental impact, with active collaboration from private sector partners and investors.
