Brent crude benchmarks move higher as market participants weigh tightening inventory levels against broader economic signals.

LONDON:Oil prices ticked higher in international trading on Friday, with benchmark Brent crude rising to $83.73 per barrel as traders assessed shifting global supply dynamics and inventory drawdowns.

The upward movement reflects tightening physical supply conditions across key regional markets, coupled with cautious optimism regarding energy demand in major economies. Market analysts attribute the gains to supply adjustments by major oil-producing nations alongside recent drawdown figures in crude inventories, which have provided sustained support to benchmark prices.

Energy trading remained active across major Asian and European exchanges through the session. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures also mirrored the upward trend, trading in tandem with Brent gains as market participants closely track upcoming production decisions and output policy signals from the OPEC+ alliance.

Broader market sentiment continues to be influenced by macroeconomic indicators, central bank interest rate policies, and geopolitical factors affecting major shipping lanes. Supply chain constraints and extended shipping routes have added incremental costs to maritime transportation, further underpinning benchmark crude values.

Traders and institutional investors are monitoring upcoming inventory reports from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) for further clarification on global supply-demand balances in the coming quarters.
