The Dubai Land Department and a local banking partner prepare to roll out direct landlord payouts paired with 12-month tenant instalment plans.

DUBAI : Dubai is preparing to roll out a “Rent Now, Pay Later” financial mechanism designed to allow residents to split their annual home rental payments into zero-interest monthly instalments over a period of up to 12 months.

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) is structuring the framework alongside a local banking institution. Under the mechanism, the participating bank settles the total annual lease directly with the landlord upfront. The tenant then reimburses the bank through structured monthly payments, removing the customary requirement for multiple post-dated cheques or lump-sum payments.

The complete operational guidelines, tenant eligibility criteria, application processes, and institutional safeguards will be detailed upon the formal launch of the service.

The program expands on the DLD’s “Flexi Rent” platform launched on June 23, which introduced quarterly, semi-annual, and monthly payment structures into tenancy contracts. By providing a direct banking mechanism that guarantees upfront landlord settlement while distributing tenant liability, authorities aim to increase liquidity and stabilize lease agreements across the emirate.
