The newly formed ‘HZP Eco Packaging’ aims to replace single-use plastics across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Oceania, and North America.

DUBAI: UAE-based packaging giant Hotpack has announced a strategic joint venture with Malaysia’s HZ Corporation, a premier manufacturer of paper-based foodservice packaging. Operating under the name HZP Eco Packaging, the new entity is designed to scale up the production and marketing of sustainable, non-plastic alternatives to target high-growth global markets including the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and North America.

The collaboration aims to tap into the surging international demand for eco-friendly, bio-based packaging solutions. By combining their industrial strengths, the two companies plan to aggressively expand their production capabilities and market reach to address rapidly evolving consumer behaviors worldwide.

Abdul Jabbar P.B., Managing Director and Group CEO of Hotpack, emphasized that the joint venture is a milestone in the company’s vision to build an international manufacturing and distribution network. “By working together, we believe we can boost production capacity, meet evolving consumer needs, and effectively address the rising demand for innovative, eco-friendly packaging products,” he said. He added that Hotpack’s dominant Middle Eastern presence paired with HZ Corporation’s deep roots in Southeast Asia positions the venture perfectly to capture high-potential market segments.

Dato’ Dr. Donald Yap, CEO of HZ Corporation, echoed these sentiments, noting that the partnership stems from a shared belief that eco-friendly packaging must be both technologically advanced and commercially viable. “Aligning our manufacturing expertise in Southeast Asia with Hotpack’s robust international distribution network and brand equity allows us to deliver high-quality, reliable products that comply with shifting regulatory standards and consumer expectations,” Yap stated.

In its initial phase, HZP Eco Packaging will focus heavily on sectors facing intense regulatory and consumer pressure to phase out single-use plastics. Key target segments include Quick Service Restaurants (QSRs), coffee chains, airlines, catering companies, and food delivery platforms. The venture’s primary product portfolio will feature sustainable paper cups, folding cartons, paper bags, and specialized foodservice packaging alternatives.

Established in Dubai in 1995, Hotpack has scaled into a multinational powerhouse operating across 30 locations and serving clients in over 100 countries through continuous investments in sustainable packaging technologies. Its partner, Malaysia-based HZ Corporation, is a regional specialist in bio-based paper packaging with an extensive foodservice client network throughout Southeast Asia.

Through this bold global expansion and product diversification, Hotpack aims to firmly anchor its position as a global leader in the sustainable food packaging industry.
