Thiruvananthapuram: In a major boost for Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs), Air India has significantly increased its flight operations from Kerala to various Gulf destinations. As part of the expanded schedule, 42 services are set to operate today alone, providing much-needed relief to travelers who have been facing high airfares and limited seat availability.
The move comes as a response to the heavy rush of passengers traveling between Kerala and Middle Eastern cities. The additional flights are expected to stabilize ticket prices and ensure smoother travel for thousands of expatriates returning to work or visiting their families.
According to reports, the increased services will cover major airports in Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Kannur, connecting them to key Gulf hubs. This expansion is seen as a strategic step by the national carrier to cater to the growing demand in one of the world’s busiest travel sectors.
Travelers and expat associations have welcomed the decision, noting that the increase in the number of flights will help mitigate the seasonal travel woes usually faced by the Malayali community in the Gulf.
