The infrastructure upgrade streamlines traffic flow between Deira, Downtown Dubai, and Business Bay, boosting road network capacity to 12,000 vehicles per hour.

DUBAI, UAE:Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially opened the Al Asayel Bridge, significantly reducing travel times and easing traffic congestion across major commercial and residential hubs, including Deira, Downtown Dubai, and Business Bay.

The newly commissioned project forms a critical part of the RTA’s ongoing master plan to enhance key road corridors across the emirate. By linking Za’abeel 2 to the broader Al Asayel Street network, the strategic link addresses bottleneck points along some of Dubai’s busiest urban arteries.

The centerpiece of the development is a 700-meter structure featuring two lanes in each direction. Designed to handle up to 4,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, the bridge drastically improves connectivity for commuters moving between the northern and central business districts of the city.

With the bridge now fully operational, the total capacity of Al Asayel Street has expanded to 12,000 vehicles per hour. City transport officials confirm that the upgrade will lower commute times, integrate surrounding road networks, and accommodate the steady increase in vehicular traffic driven by urban expansion.

In addition to the main bridge structure, the project encompasses extensive road upgrades. Workers constructed a 2.5-kilometer road extension, alongside modified surface intersections, enhanced signalization, and dedicated pedestrian pathways to ensure pedestrian safety and efficient vehicular flow.

The Al Asayel Street development serves as an alternative route to Financial Centre Street and Sheikh Zayed Road, taking pressure off major arteries that routinely experience heavy peak-hour traffic. It also offers direct access to key landmarks, including Dubai Mall, the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), and residential areas in Za’abeel.

This opening aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which prioritizes sustainable infrastructure development, seamless mobility, and elevated quality of life for residents and visitors alike. RTA officials noted that further Phase improvements along surrounding corridors will continue as scheduled throughout the year.
