The National Media Authority stresses strict compliance with national publishing standards and social values following a violation aimed at driving view counts.

ABU DHABI:The UAE’s National Media Authority has suspended the publicity permit of a media content creator for three months and penalized a second individual after the pair broadcast defamatory content during a live streaming session. Official regulators issued a stern warning against compromising public morals or national cultural standards to gain online visibility.

Media regulators in the United Arab Emirates have cracked down on digital content creators following an investigation into a live stream that breached national publishing laws. The National Media Authority (NMA) announced that it suspended one creator’s permit for a period of three months and initiated legal administrative actions against a second participant involved in the broadcast.

According to regulatory officials, the individuals posted defamatory remarks during a live online broadcast, violating established media regulations and societal principles. Authorities emphasized that public platforms must not be used to disseminate material that insults UAE culture, heritage, or public decency.

The NMA highlighted that leveraging sensational or offensive commentary to artificially inflate view counts and audience engagement will draw swift regulatory penalties. The authority reiterated that all creators and public influencers operating within the country remain subject to local media compliance guidelines designed to safeguard community standards.

“Media standards and social values are non-negotiable,” the regulatory body indicated, warning that continued or severe infractions could result in permanent permit revocation and referral to judicial authorities.

The latest enforcement action forms part of broader efforts by UAE authorities to monitor digital platforms, enforce compliance among content producers, and ensure that online broadcasts align with national laws governing public speech and publication.
