Civil aviation regulator halts inbound and outbound operations citing international compliance and flight bans

ABU DHABI, Sept 24 —The United Arab Emirates has halted all commercial passenger and cargo operations conducted by Iranian carriers into and out of its airports, effective immediately, the federal aviation regulator announced Thursday.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) stated that the suspension took effect on September 24 and will remain in place until further notice.

The measure directly addresses international regulatory compliance following US-mandated restrictions barring Iranian civil aircraft from using major international airspace corridors and foreign transit hubs.

UAE aviation officials said the decision applies uniformly across all international airports within the emirates, affecting carriers operating regular shuttle services between Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan, and major commercial hubs in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi.

Airlines frequently serving these routes include Iran Air, Mahan Air, and Kish Air. Passengers scheduled to travel between the UAE and Iranian destinations have been advised to halt journeys to transit terminals and contact ticketing offices directly for itinerary modifications and refund options.

The aviation authority indicated it remains in coordination with domestic airport managers, foreign ministry liaisons, and international air traffic controllers to manage stranded itineraries and adjust slot allocations. Updates regarding scheduled operations will be published via official state channels as technical and regulatory evaluations progress.

Travelers and logistics forwarders were cautioned to disregard unauthorized schedules circulating on digital channels and rely solely on communiqués released by the federal authority.
