GDRFA Director General Lt. Gen. Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri commends Sheikh Hamdan’s directive granting 10-year residency to exceptional school and higher education staff.

DUBAI, Oct 6 : Granting UAE Golden Visas to exceptional teachers and education workers represents both a tribute to those shaping young minds and a strategic investment in the emirate’s future, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, said on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day.

The long-term residency initiative stems from directives issued by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE. Under the scheme, outstanding educators across private early childhood centres, schools, and higher education institutions in Dubai receive 10-year residency permits in recognition of academic excellence, leadership, and community impact.

Al Marri noted that the leadership’s directive underscores the decisive role quality education plays in comprehensive human development. By retaining top-tier academic talent and supporting professionals who drive intellectual and societal progress, Dubai continues to reinforce knowledge as a cornerstone of its economic diversification and civic growth.

Educators leave a lasting imprint on society through the transmission of critical thinking, fundamental values, and ambition, Al Marri said. Honoring them with residency security recognizes teachers as indispensable partners in nation-building while fortifying Dubai’s broader human development agenda.

The GDRFA chief affirmed that Dubai’s residency department has streamlined the visa application and issuance mechanisms specifically to ensure educators experience a seamless administrative transition. By granting long-term stability, immigration authorities aim to enhance teachers’ quality of life, allowing them to focus on classroom excellence and institutional leadership within a competitive, merit-driven academic ecosystem.

Qualifying educators in Dubai are evaluated in coordination with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), examining institutional performance ratings, proven track records in boosting student outcomes, and measurable contributions to the wider education community.
