Authorities urge residents to avoid downloading mobile applications from unverified sources to protect their bank accounts and personal information.

DUBAI, July 11, 2026 — Dubai Police has issued a crucial cybersecurity advisory warning the public against downloading mobile applications from unknown or unverified sources. Authorities emphasized that a single reckless click could expose users to severe financial losses and identity theft.

Cybercriminals are increasingly developing sophisticated, deceptive applications tailored specifically to target individuals’ personal interests and daily needs. Once installed, these malicious apps secretly deploy malware onto the device, allowing fraudsters to harvest sensitive personal credentials and critical banking data to illicitly drain funds.

To counter this growing threat, Dubai Police has urged all smartphone users to strictly adhere to secure digital practices. Residents are strongly advised to download applications exclusively from official marketplaces, such as the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and to carefully scrutinize app permissions before installation. Authorities reiterated that maintaining digital vigilance is the first line of defense against rapidly evolving cyber financial crimes.
