Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has deployed an advanced suite of artificial intelligence-powered smart dashboards at its Bus Operations Control Centre, marking a major step forward in the real-time management of public bus services through data analytics and AI technologies.
The initiative, developed by RTA’s Public Transport Agency in collaboration with the Artificial Intelligence Centre at Corporate Technology Support Services, is designed to strengthen operational efficiency, improve service reliability, and support Dubai’s ambition to become a global leader in smart mobility.
The system operates on RTA’s Dataiku platform and enables a proactive, data-driven approach to managing the emirate’s bus network. The smart dashboards integrate several operational applications, including early-departure performance analysis, AI-based trip cancellation prediction, rapid-response systems during metro service disruptions, and optimisation of short-turning operations.

According to RTA, the solutions have been fully integrated into the daily operations of the Bus Operations Control Centre, enabling faster decision-making and more effective management of transport services.
The initiative has already delivered measurable results, including a reduction of more than 68 per cent in early bus departures, helping maintain service performance in line with international benchmarks. The system has also improved response times by facilitating the immediate deployment of buses during disruptions affecting the Dubai Metro.
Customer service has also been enhanced through automated alert systems that provide timely operational updates and improve the overall passenger experience.
In addition to operational benefits, the AI-powered dashboards have contributed to environmental sustainability goals. RTA reported that improvements in engine idling management and bus parking efficiency have helped reduce carbon emissions by more than 13,000 tonnes of CO₂.
The Bus Operations Control Centre serves as the operational backbone of Dubai’s public bus network, and the introduction of AI-powered dashboards represents a shift towards a predictive and proactive operating model.
RTA said the initiative demonstrates its commitment to embedding enterprise-level artificial intelligence into everyday operations while developing scalable smart solutions that support Dubai’s vision of becoming one of the world’s leading smart cities.
